Studio Tecnico Signa (STS) was founded on 01 February 2008 by Guglielmo Chiocciora as a professional studio and it is based in Via Erta di Castello 4, 50058 Signa (Florence - Italy). The founder has 50 years of professional experience in the water sector, he started in March 1968 with small assignments by the Arno Hydrographic Office for post-flood studies and surveys in Florence. In addition to the founder, STS is made up of his son and 2 engineers with whom there are ongoing collaborative relationships. STS was born from the dissolution of GEOSCIENCE Srl, a study and engineering company founded in 1977 and which operated until 2007. The dissolution was determined by the retirement from professional life of one of the two partners due to age limits. GEOSCIENCE Srl in 30 years of activity has operated in the water sector in Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Eritrea, Djibouti and Italy, in the gas-oil sector in Libya and Saudi Arabia, in the low enthalpy-spa sector throughout Italy. STS, at the time of the closure of GEOSCIENCE Srl, acquired all the libraries, the know-how and all the hardwares. STS has the following equipment: - n ° 4 multiscreen workstations, - n ° 5 high resolution printing units, - n ° 2 high resolution A4 and A3 format scanners - n ° 2 sets of Differential GPS (one: static + rover; one static + n ° 2 rovers), - n ° 2 total stations (one at 5 ppm and one at 2 ppm), - n ° 2 optical levels NAK2 brand Wild, - n ° 1 Trimble brand handheld GNSS, - n ° 1 depth sounder for bathymetry, - n ° 3 pheatmeters of various lengths, - various instruments for on-site surveys on water sources. Many technical software are installed on the workstations that allow to face and solve all the problems encountered by carrying out studies and designs in the hydraulic field. STS has also a large library of standard drawings and construction specifications.
