A study tour is an intercontinental trip for students. In September 2025, 30 Biomedical Engineering and Technical Medicine students will visit Japan for three weeks. We will visit companies, universities, hospitals, and research institutes with different areas of interest in the biomedical field.
The theme of our study tour is Kintsugi: the art of healing. Kintsugi is an ancient Japanese artform to repair broken pottery with golden glue to make it more beautiful than before.
Prior to the study tour, the participating students will carry out research on topics like culture, history, economy, and biomedical advancements in Japan. They will also receive lectures on some of these topics, to gain in-depth knowledge and broaden their research. Apart from the educational research, the participating students will also carry out a contract research or case study for a research group, company or institute.
