Летняя школа / Summer School

Летняя школа (Summer School) is an independent social and educational project where participants gain and share their best knowledge on different topics from Ecology to Data Science and Creative Arts in the format of thematic workshops. It takes place annually in July-August and located in a picturesque place near the Volga River in Moscow region. It has a long and successful story since 2004 when it was established in the format of a field educational camp for Russian students and lifelong learners. The duration of the Summer School is 5 weeks starting in July. It is a tent camp with well-equipped spaces for study and project work. The main part of the day is filled with lectures, seminars, field researches, performances of project groups, workshops. Also, there could be trips to research institutes, photo expositions, open lectures as well as evening activities such as movie views, grilling, and songs at the bonfire. What makes Summer School so special? - It's an independent project, not led by university or governmental organization. - It's non-commercial initiative, with all the people involved in the project on a volunteer basis. Every teacher, coordinator or lecturer take part just because they share the philosophy of the School. Self-management is the core principle - we all do this School together and by our own. - Participants come from all over Russia and other Russian-speaking countries. - It takes place in beautiful wood at the picturesque bank of Volga river and authentic buildings of former Soviet youth camp.
