sunE develops and operates shuttle services for communities using solar-powered electric vehicles with grid backup in the Philippines. Our business model integrates environmental, social and economic well being, We do this by developing a package that local entrepreneurs can own and operate as businesses. Our aim is to help entrepreneurs create wealth for their families and stable satisfying jobs in their communities while reducing street level and greenhouse gas pollution in their areas. Passengers tell us that they enjoy the service because it offers them a quiet, comfortable, convenient and cost-effective transportation option. Our pilot project has been operating in a residential subdivision in Batangas, Philippines since July 2016. The service runs 16 hours/day, 365 days per year without a single hour of downtime to date. During that period, the service has grown from less than 200 to more than 700 passengers/day. We currently employ seven full-time drivers/technicians, that are receiving medical and other employee benefits that were not available to them previously. In June 2019 we were named by the Solar Impulse World Alliance as one of their 1000 efficient solutions. As part of the Solar Impulse World Alliance of Efficient Solutions. Our application was assessed by a panel of international experts for its technological feasibility, environmental, socio-economic benefits, and economic profitability.
