Sunrise is a community support organisation who aim to celebrate diversity, challenge discrimination, and change attitudes. Primarily focusing on the needs of people from diverse communities including migrants, refugee and asylum seekers, people of colour, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
Sunrise was first established in October 2009 as a social group for refugees, migrant workers and asylum seekers; however it soon became apparent that users were facing a range of issues and difficulties which were not being addressed by local service providers. In response, we started supporting users and runs a range of services and activities to cater for the needs of diverse people.
Services for diverse individuals are free of cost and include English language classes, groups, and conversation clubs, 1-1 support, guidance and advice.
We organize events in Northern Devon that celebrate diversity in the wider community. We also can provide training and workshops to groups, organizations, and businesses.
