Sun Test Systems traces its roots back to Sun Electric Corporation, founded in the United States in 1931 to design & manufacture test equipment for the automotive industry. In 1948, the company expanded into the aerospace sector, launching an aerospace division focused on hydraulic test equipment for aircraft, supplying the US Air Force & clients worldwide.
By the 1960s, the company had expanded into Europe, uniting regional operations under Sun Electric Europe B.V. In 1981, all development & production activities related to hydraulic test equipment & rolling roads were transferred to a new entity, Sun Electric Systems B.V., based in Weesp, the Netherlands. This move solidified the company's European engineering footprint and positioned it for steady growth in customer base & product offerings.
In 2007, management acquired the company & renamed it Sun Test Systems B.V., reflecting its focused mission to develop & manufacture high-quality test systems for the aerospace & automotive markets. In 2011, growth continued with the acquisition of Verolme Test Stands B.V., a Dutch specialist in aircraft component test stands. In 2012, all activities were consolidated under the brands Sun Test Systems B.V. & Sun Test Systems Ltd.
As international demand for test solutions grew, the company expanded operations to North America. This led to the establishment of Sun Test Systems Inc., a U.S.-based branch focused on localized engineering, service, & delivery for aerospace and defense customers.
