SUHUCAM is a grassroots Development and Environmental Organization established in 2018 with Head office at Pesage Meyos, Soa. We are the current host of GLFx Yaounde Chapter, Youth Climate Council Cameroon and the 2025 In-Country Focal point for the African Youth Adaptation Network under the Global Center on Adaptation. Since creation, we have restored over 50 hectares of degraded forest and and agro pastoral lands through tree growing, supported natural regeneration and the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices. We have co-designed with communities and implemented community and youths-led adaptation projects directly impacting over 600 smallholder farmers and pastoralists. We have provided livelihoods support to over 500 women and youths living adjacent the Bamunkumbit Integrated Community Forest and established four grassroots restoration groups to inspire and promote ecosystem system restoration in the Bamenda Ecological Highland Area. We have also established village forest management committee and Village water management committees to strengthen local leadership and promote participatory management of restoration activities. In the Center Region of Cameroon, we a re leading the one household one fruit tree initiative in Soa municipality. over 2000 fruit trees have been planted in households and schools across the municipality. We are an accredited observer organization with #UNFCCC, #UNCCD, #UNCBD, and #UNEP. We have represented local community voices within policy spaces, sharing our lived experiences, the impact of our interventions and advocating for inclusive policy development at national and global levels. We are also a member of over 15 networks including the Global Water Partnership, Agro Ecology Coalition, Pan African Coalition on Adaptation and Resilience, African Forest Forum etc. SUHUCAM was one of the finalists of the 2025 Lush Spring Prize in the established category.
