SURFs UP is a EU co-founded project, that aims to demonstrate the optimized, cost-efficient, and Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) production of second-generation (2G) biosurfactants, both biologically and chemically produced, at scales ranging from 150 L to 10 m³. The project focuses on using biobased feedstocks, such as sugars and lignin from hardwood processing residues and waste from regional food processing. These biosurfactants will be tested as functional ingredients in innovative biobased formulations for home and personal care products, as well as for agrochemical applications.
