SUS-MIRRI.IT brings together 24 Universities and Research partners with an ambitious purpose.
We want to strengthen the national network of microorganisms biobanks to preserve and enhance microbial biodiversity by providing effective tools to address major social, economic and environmental challenges.
SUS-MIRRI.IT brings together and provides access through a single access point to all the biological resources of the project partners. We want to increase the benefit that society can derive from the enhancement of microbial biodiversity.
Microorganisms are the predominant life form on our planet both in number and in total biomass. Only 2.3 million species are described but it is estimated that species can be up to 30 million, we still have a long way to go in the study and research of these form of life.
Our project has these objectives:
- Strengthening the academic and industrial access to biological resources and related data
- Promote and support national and international research consortia
- Promote innovative technologies for the improvement of the quality of life
- Contribute to the strengthening of public-private partnerships
