In SUSCAPE we focus primarily on the development of quantitative tools based on mathematical programming to address the design and planning of sustainable processes. Our approach relies on the combined use of multi-criteria mixed-integer modeling techniques and Life Cycle Assessment principles, a framework that enables us to systematize the identification of process alternatives leading to environmental savings. Our major areas of study include Sustainability, Process Engineering, Buildings and Energy Efficiency, and Mathematical Programming.
