State Veterinary Institute Jihlava

We are a modern veterinary laboratory offering our services in the areas of animal health, food safety—particularly, but not only, of food of animal origin—and ecology. We possess extensive expertise and laboratory facilities integrating the latest knowledge and technologies. In these areas we provide, besides sample testing and laboratory diagnostics, counselling, and education and training activities. We are now also engaged in research and development. Most of our contracts are awarded by the state authorities. We, however, attach the same importance to contracts with farmers, processors, manufacturers, traders, and private citizens. Since 1 January 2014, our institute operates at two sites, in Jihlava and in České Budějovice. Our second site came to existence by an administrative merger with former SVI České Budějovice. We operate seven national reference laboratories, three reference laboratories, and a veterinary drugs control laboratory. Our institute has introduced a quality management system according to EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005. It is accredited by the Czech Accreditation Institute as Testing laboratory No. 1129 “SVI Jihlava Laboratories” at the Jihlava site, and Testing Laboratory No. 1201 “Testing laboratory” at the České Budějovice site. Most of our tests are accredited. We are conveniently situated near the geographical centre of the Czech Republic, close to the D1 motorway, and we can also offer our customers sample pick-up and transport services through our extensive network of transport lines covering the territories of the Vysočina, Pardubice, Hradec Králové, South Moravia, South Bohemia, Central Bohemia, and Plzeň regions.
