Swapnisthan Foundation

Swapnisthan, founded in the year 2024 is an alternative learning centre located in Kanpur, Rajasthan catering to children aged 5-16 from socially disadvantaged communities. The centre offers an open learning environment where learning extends beyond the classroom, integrating the natural surroundings and local community into the learning process. Children engage in experiential learning through hands-on activities, such as working in kitchen gardens, exploring the village, and visiting local sites, fostering a deeper connection to their environment and enhancing practical skills. The centre focuses on experiential, child-centered learning, emphasizing life skills and real-world applications. The curriculum at Swapnisthan is need-based and flexible, designed to meet each child's specific needs and interests. It focuses on core skills like communication, critical thinking, creativity, entrepreneurship, and digital literacy. Learners are categorized into five learning phases called Panch Tattva of Transformation. For example, younger children learn through play and physical activities, while older learners engage in debates, stage performances, and specialized exposure visits. Swapnisthan minimizes direct facilitators intervention, encouraging self-directed learning, collaboration, and creativity. At the advanced level, we create an exit plan to support learners pursuing further education by preparing them for the 10th standard open-school exam, offering career planning, scholarship assistance, and college application support. For those not interested in further studies, we encourage them to start a business or social venture or connect them with Multiversities and similar organizations that focuses on alternative learning approaches. The centre’s approach empowers them to make informed decisions, avoid exploitation, and contribute positively to their communities.
