Swartkops Terminal

Swartkops Terminal (Pty) Ltd (‘STC’) kicked off operations in September 2014. Operating at the old Swartkops Power Station next to Swartkops River, the landmark that has become part of the city scape over the years. STC receives bulk manganese export consignments by rail, offloading these trains, stockpiling the manganese and subsequent delivery of the manganese in skips to ships side by road transport. STC is a service provider to Transnet. Transnet directs existing manganese mines in the Northern Cape to utilize the service of STC in receiving the arriving trains, stockpiling the contents thereof and subsequent delivery by road to the ship side in Port Elizabeth. STC is suited midway between Ports of Ngqura and Port Elizabeth both approximately 16 km way from the terminal .
