Shenyang Ligong University (SLU), founded in 1948, whose predecessor was Northeast Military Special School, was upgraded to Shenyang Institute of Technology in 1960 and renamed Shenyang Ligong University in 2004. The university is located near the south bank of Hun River in the scenic Hunnan New Hi-tech District, Shenyang City, with imposing and elegant buildings, and pleasant and agreeable campus environment. Over sixty-five years of construction and development, SLU has developed from a single-discipline military and technological school into a multi-disciplinary university, well-known in engineering, with combination of science, management, arts, economics, law and art. With the distinctive features of national defense, SLU enrolls students on a nationwide basis, mainly contributing to the development of Liaoning Province. SLU covers an area of 1,220,000 ㎡, with campus buildings 443,400㎡ and the total value of teaching and scientific equipment 260 million RMB. On campus, there is a local network and many high-level modernized labs. Its library occupies an area of 39,000㎡ with 1,230,000 paper books in the collection, an automatic management system, and important database of both home and abroad, meanwhile, its development plan of digitalizing the library is now in steady progress. SLU has 16 schools, 2 teaching departments, 12 first- level and 45 second-level disciplines for master degree program, 7 master-accredited fields for engineering and MBA. It offers 51 undergraduate programs.
