About SYSTRON LAB

The System and Network Interoperability (SYSTRON) Lab, based in the Department of Computer Science at the University of York, UK, is dedicated to advancing research in distributed systems, interoperability, and network technologies. Led by Dr. Poonam Yadav, the lab focuses on enhancing edge computing systems for optimal performance and resilience, connecting diverse systems to address challenges in machine-to-machine (M2M), machine-to-human (M2H), and human-to-data (H2D) interactions, and exploring protocols and security for future communication systems. The SYSTRON Lab operates from the Ian Wand Building on the University of York’s Campus East, which houses the Computer Science Department and provides access to specialized research facilities, including the SASS lab. Additionally, the lab utilizes the Institute for Safe Autonomy (ISA), a £15 million purpose-built facility equipped with experimental laboratories for robotics, advanced communications, and quantum technologies. The research team comprises a diverse group of experts, including PhD students, research associates, and software engineers. Their collaborative efforts have led to significant contributions in areas such as IoT security, exemplified by projects like the “Battery Depletion Attack Through Packet Injection on IoT Thread Mesh Network,” which investigates vulnerabilities in IoT networks.
