The SZEngine team was established with the help of Széchenyi István University in Győr and AUDI Hungaria. The main goal of the team is to develop a single cylinder race engine for Formula Student teams. The Students design, develop the parts of the engine and manufacture them with the help of sponsors of the team. The Team consists of mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering and and electrical engineering students, as well as economics students to provide the economic background of the team.
In November 2012, our first self – developed, unique, single-cylinder race engine, the EVO1 was assembled and presented. The second generation race engine, the EVO2 was presented to the public in November 2013. The development process of our 3rd generation engine, the EVO3 takes less than one year. The roll-out show of this engine was held in December 2014. After the engine roll-out, several tests were run on the tarmac and roller dyno. With the results of tests, the design and manufacturing process of EVO4 was started. The engine was assembled in the autumn of 2015 and we managed to take many test hours into the engine on our self – developed test bench. We presented the engine to the public in December 2015. In 2017, we introduced the EVO5 generation, which is based on the previous generation, yet it has undergone serious transformations. The following year, we introduced the engine, named EVO6, whose development focused on thermodynamics. In 2018, we got closer to one of our goals, because, in addition to the Arrabona Racing Team, we collaborated with the newly formed team, BME Motorsport. As we provided a power unit for not one but two teams for the 2019 race season, instead of completely new developments, we focused on further developing the EVO6 design to create a reliable and efficient engine design that was named EVO6+.
The team is now the official engine supplier of Arrabona Racing Team from the same university.
