Szeged Contemporary Dance Company has turned 30 this year.
The company was established in 1993 by Tamás Juronics and András Pataki.
Under the name of Szeged Ballet, it's predecessor was directed by the choreographer Zoltán Imre from 1987 who had previously just returned from England.
Modern dance techniques and theatrical ambitions determine the company’s image as well as emphasizing the importance of the repertoire’s variety.
By now the Szeged Contemporary Dance Company has become not only Hungary’s leading contemporary dance ensemble but also gained reputation and appreciation worldwide. It’s unique style consists of the mixture of acrobatics, modern dance movements, theatrical elements and powerful visions performed in the highest technical and artistic quality.
The company’s run of luck has started in the 90s and remains unwavering until nowadays. Their plays are typified by the dancers elaborated movements such as the dramatic power and philosophical depth of the performances, the delicate usage of theatrical impressions as well as the variety and enrichment of the topics.
A 30 éves Szegedi Kortárs Balett
A Szegedi Kortárs Balett 1993-ban alakult Juronics Tamás és Pataki András vezetésével, amelynek elődje 1987-ben Szegedi Balett néven jött létre az Angliából hazatérő koreográfus, Imre Zoltán igazgatásával.
A társulat arculatát a modern tánctechnikák és táncszínházi törekvések határozzák meg, nagy súlyt fektetnek a repertoár változatosságára. A Szegedi Kortárs Balett mára nem csupán hazánk vezető kortárs táncegyüttese, de világszerte is elismerést, hírnevet szerzett társulat. Sajátos, egyedi stílusát az akrobatikus kortárs tánc mozdulatvilága, a táncszínházi elemek, a látvány elegye jellemzi, mindez magas technikai és művészi színvonalon előadva.
A Szegedi Kortárs Balett hazai és nemzetközi sikerszériája a kilencvenes évektől napjainkig rendületlenül folytatódik. A mozdulatok kidolgozottsága mellett a táncművek drámai erejének, gondolati mélységének, táncszínházi kifejezési eszköztárának finomsága, témáiknak változatossága, gazdagodása jellemzi produkcióikat.
