In 2012, I met a group of young leaders from Iran, and the conflict between who they were and what I thought Iran was left me naked. Worse, my opinion of Iran wasn’t my own. I had adopted it from somewhere, and it needed to change.
Most tourist visas last 30 days. I managed 3 months. Most tourists only visit the 3 main cities. I travelled 11,000km in Iran. Most tourists stay in hotels. I stayed on couches, floors, and occasionally spare beds. Most tourists travel by tour. I tried hitchhiking (it didn’t work).
