Talking Wall Pictures is a film and television development company with over 25 years of experience. Founded by director John David Coles, Talking Wall Pictures develops stories that are commercial, probing, and passionate. We develop entertaining stories that explore humanistic themes. We offer something unique to the development process and to the writer. We focus on a small slate of projects, which we develop with passion and care. Our approach allows writers the support and the freedom they need to explore personal and complex material. Because of the richness and diversity of the roles thus created, our projects will be sought after by the star talent, enhancing the packaging potential of our screenplays and facilitating the path to production. In addition, because of its independence, Talking Wall has the flexibility to develop material without the typically high overhead costs: we believe that the key to being successful is to put our time, our efforts and our resources directly into the material. If the scripts are good, the rest will follow. Our writing contacts range from all the major agencies to off-Broadway and regional theaters. A special area of expertise is the New York theater and literary world – we have been able to comb through books and plays, find extraordinary material and writers, and then re-fashion that material into mainstream material. Talking Wall has developed numerous projects with HBO, CBS, New Line, IFC, Bravo and many more. Currently we have projects in development with eOne Television and Gigantic Pictures. The company has worked with numerous distinguished writers, including Academy Award nominated Mike Weller (Hair), Pulitzer Prize winner Doug Wright (Quills), Kate Robin (Six Feet Under) and Ann Peacock (Nights in Rodanthe). Produced credits include the drama Songs in Ordinary Time (based on the Oprah Book Club pick) starring Sissy Spacek and Beau Bridges and the original series Crash and Burn, starring Luke Kirby.
