Recognising that COVID pressures on the wider NHS were negatively impacting on the mental health and wellbeing of its staff NHS England funded 40 resilience hubs across the country to deliver mental health and wellbeing support; talking wellness is the hub providing that support for Kent and Medway’s NHS, health and social care staff.
As time has moved on, and the impact of the pandemic has lessened, we have learned that our staff continue to struggle with the after effects of a relentless workload, grief, loss and personal tragedies, and that they are working harder than ever. As we enter into a period of financial austerity, there is a belief that pressures on staff will increase, meaning supporting their mental health and wellbeing is no longer a nice to have, it has become a valued and appreciated necessity. The talking wellness service aims to make sure those working in the NHS, health and social care across Kent and Medway know that if they are struggling, we are here to support them.
