多磨バイオは、理化学研究所の高分子樹脂を特殊加工する技術を実用的な基盤技術とし、2016年4月に設立されました。多磨バイオはこれまで人工硬膜「デュラビーム®」と人工心膜「ペリビーム®」の製造販売承認（クラスⅣ）を厚生労働省より取得し、基幹となる特許を日本、アメリカ合衆国、中華人民共和国等で取得しております。また「デュラビーム®」はグンゼ株式会社（本社：大阪市北区、社長：廣地厚）の連結子会社である株式会社メディカルユーアンドエイ（本社：大阪市北区、社長：松田晶二郎）などが国内で販売を開始しております。
多磨バイオは、人工硬膜「デュラビーム®」と人工心膜「ペリビーム®」に加え、よりクリティカルかつ高成果の見込まれる分野の人工臓器や再生医療技術の開発を推進しています。患者の失われた臓器の機能的代替物としてインプラント等の医療機器は世界中で進められていますが、臨床の現場では術後の感染症の問題、自己組織との癒着、経年使用による石灰化等の様々な有害事象が課題となっています。多磨バイオ製品は生体適合性が高く、その加工技術によりこれらの課題を克服し、継続して新しい開発製品を患者に届けることに取り組みます。
また多磨バイオは海外における薬事承認取得、国際事業提携構築などの国際展開も進めています。本共同研究により、両者は、その革新的な医療技術の成果を国内にとどまらず、全世界に対して展開することを目指して参ります。
