Choosing to dress baby boys in florals is not commonly done. But surely dinosaurs and diggers are not the only way to go? And when it’s time to dress up nice and smart - can we get past the superhero shirts or big-name sports brands?
When my baby boy was born, I wanted to dress him in embroidery. But not the 'cutesy cartoon' type. Something simple, yet classy. Classic, yet beautiful. Something I could really cherish and enjoy - while still making sure he was dressed like a boy. It seemed I was plain out of luck.
Or was I?
Isn't it cool how spending time with a little person brings you right back to earth again? A leaf here, a seed there, or a handful of dandelion heads lovingly shared - 'flowers for you, Mum'.
It was time to set my creative spirit free again. Embrace the joys of nature and all that it encompasses. Welcome textile back into my world. And colour - more than anything, I needed to work with colour. Combining all these elements with my love for vintage, and my own embroidery work - Tamarilloh is born.
