Texas A&M Vertical Flight Society (VFS) is a student-led hub for vertical-flight innovation, proudly sponsored by Amazon. Their generous funding and hands-on mentorship empower us to push the boundaries of VTOL technology, host cutting-edge workshops, and forge industry connections that elevate every project we undertake. Within VFS, we house three flagship programs: the Vertical Flight Design Team (VFD)—where undergraduates design, prototype, and test next-generation eVTOL aircraft; UpLift, our outreach initiative that mentors underrepresented high-school students through hands-on aircraft builds; and eVAIR (eVTOL Autonomy and AI Research), which develops advanced autonomy algorithms and machine-learning systems to make tomorrow’s eVTOLs safer and smarter. Amazon’s support amplifies the impact of all three programs, ensuring we train future aerospace leaders, deliver public demos, and share our discoveries with the broader community.
