TANAREKA is a research-based architecture firm dedicated to recontextualizing mixed-use buildings through innovative, sustainable, and contextual design. We believe that as cities continue to grow—with over 68% of the global population projected to live in urban areas by 2050—mixed-use developments will play an increasingly crucial role in shaping livable environments. While mixed-use buildings are often associated with large-scale developments, our approach, RESPECT (Research, Exploration, Technology, Collaboration, and Storytelling), allows us to harness their benefits at a small to medium scale—making them more accessible and affordable for communities. By seamlessly integrating diverse functions within a single development, we create dynamic, adaptable spaces that enhance urban living while respecting local context and culture. We collaborate with business owners, developers, investors, and policymakers to design impactful small to medium-scale mixed-use buildings that are not only financially viable but also contribute to a more sustainable, efficient, and vibrant urban fabric.
