These farmers, who make up the backbone of the nation’s food supply, often face systemic barriers: poor access to markets, post-harvest losses, minimal financing options, and a lack of technology infrastructure. These challenges don’t just limit growth—they lock rural communities into cycles of poverty, food insecurity, and economic exclusion. Taninex was founded to break that cycle. Built with a mission-driven model and aligned with global sustainability goals, Taninex exists to revolutionize Indonesia’s rural supply chain—empowering farmers, enabling local micro-entrepreneurs, reducing food waste, and strengthening village economies through technology and innovation. What began as a small logistics and marketplace platform has quickly evolved into a scalable solution addressing five interconnected challenges in the agri-food system. Empowering Smallholder Farmers: More Than Market Access At the heart of Taninex’s mission is the goal to increase smallholder farmers’ incomes by 20–50%. These farmers typically have little bargaining power when selling produce. They rely on middlemen who offer low prices, and without access to transparent markets or real-time data, they’re unable to optimize their production cycles or sales. Taninex addresses this by creating direct distribution channels between farmers and end buyers, including retailers, food stalls, and warungs (small local grocery businesses). By establishing localized warehouses and integrating cold chain logistics, farmers no longer need to travel long distances or accept exploitative prices. Instead, they deliver to a nearby collection point where their produce is weighed, recorded, and tracked digitally.
