About Task 53 - Interoperability of Bidirectional Charging (INBID)

🔋 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥 Task 53 aims to deliver a standardization proposal that ensures interoperability between bidirectional charging stations and vehicles, as well as between bidirectional charging stations and distribution grids. A common interpretation of the ISO 15118-20 is needed to address the current V2G challenges of non-interoperable protocols and non-standardized grid codes. 🔋𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 The International Energy Agency (IEA) established the Electric Vehicle Technology Collaboration Programme (EV TCP) in 2016 to facilitate international collaboration on pre-competitive research and information sharing related to hybrid and electric vehicle technologies. 🌐 https://www.iea.org/ As part of this effort, the EVTCP initiated Task 53: INBID to address the challenge of ensuring interoperability in bidirectional charging. The EVTCP currently includes 18 participating countries dedicated to advancing this area of electric vehicle technology. 🌐https://ieahev.org/ 🔋 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐚𝐬𝐤 53 🔹Provide proof of interoperable solutions based on a "consortia agreement" and conformance test reports from partner labs. 🔹Ensure interoperability between bidirectional vehicles and charging equipment, with at least 9 "pairs" for 3-phase and 9 "pairs" for 1-phase. 🔹Ensure interoperability between bidirectional charging equipment and DSOs, with at least 15 "pairs" for 3-phase and 15 "pairs" for 1-phase. 🔹 Develop technical documentation (presentations, specifications, videos) detailing the implementation process for third parties to achieve interoperability. 🔌𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝? Join Us in Making Bidirectional Charging Interoperable! Companies, universities, and institutions from participating partner countries are invited to join the effort to make bidirectional charging interoperable by becoming industry partners. 💡Contact us for any questions and onboarding steps.
