Our planet’s most fertile agricultural lands, critical to global food security, are under immense strain. With 38% of the Earth's surface, or 5 billion hectares, dedicated to agriculture, the pressure on these lands is escalating. Soil degradation, inefficient land use, and environmental damage threaten future food production, while the demand for food continues to rise. Meanwhile, in Indonesia, two-thirds of agricultural land is classified as suboptimal, with 20% consisting of wetlands, areas often dismissed as unproductive but holding immense potential for transformation. At Tay Juhana Foundation (TJF), we see suboptimal lands as a new frontier for food production. We are dedicated to unlocking the value of these often-overlooked areas, not just for cultivation but as part of a broader solution to address food security and climate resilience. Our mission extends beyond growing food. We strive to develop sustainable practices that empower communities, enhance self-sufficiency, and create lasting environmental and economic benefits. Research is at the core of everything we do at TJF.
