The Backpack Project of Charleston

The Backpack Project of Charleston, or TBP/CHS, is a student-run nonprofit organization that aims to contribute to the collective effort of making homelessness “rare and brief”. We plan to engage with the Charleston homeless population, host charitable volunteer programs based on service gaps identified in the community, and spread awareness about the root causes of homelessness. These goals will be put into action by: - packing and hand-delivering backpacks filled with essential supplies - establishing a personal connection to uplift each client we encounter - connecting our clients to other homeless service providers within the community
