Traumatic Direct Transfusion Device (TD2) provides emergency blood transfusions for those facing the catastrophic loss of circulation in the field.
Utilizing walking blood banks to create reliable, rapid, and simple transfusions, TD2 uses a mechanical device to directly attach two people via IV. The mechanical device begins counting all ounces of blood being transmitted and continues until 450 mL is reached.
The transmission is then immediately and automatically blocked via a gate and the patient’s fresh-blood transfusion is complete all within a few life-saving minutes.
Unlike current field transfusion options, which utilize indirect methods of transfusion, TD2 taps into the power of the direct transfusion to reduce its overall time to one-fourth of the leading indirect method and frees the medic to provide additional life-saving interventions for patients while greatly reducing the number of steps for a transfusion and ultimately decreasing the total amount of time wasted.
