About TE4CL - Kia Eke
TE4CL - Kia Eke (Tertiary Education for Care Leavers - Kia Eke) is a care leaver founded advocacy organisation aimed at improving equitable access to tertiary and further education for people who have been in care. We’re working towards a future where, with the right support, our care experienced whānau can flourish in whatever future they choose to pursue. Kia Eke serves as a karanga - a call to the wider community to establish the wraparound support systems needed for care experienced learners of all ages to achieve their higher education aspirations, and thrive. We do this by connecting and collaborating with various organisations such as; Oranga Tamariki, the Tertiary Education Commission, universities, polytechs and wānanga, and allied organisations like VOYCE - Whakarongo Mai, to make our vision a reality. Change is already happening. Across Aotearoa New Zealand, communities, educators and care leavers are coming together to co-create equitable pathways into tertiary and further education for our care experienced whānau. Ma te hoe tahi e eke ai ki ngaru nui, ki ngaru roa, katahi rā ka aewa te waka ki uta, tau ana. If we all participate then there are no obstacles that cannot be overcome to reach a common goal.
