NELI is a programme for children in Reception (4-5 years) which has been found to improve children's language and early literacy skills. Several robust evaluations have shown:
• NELI children make 3-5 months’ additional progress in language skills in just six months
• Children with English as an additional language (EAL) made the same additional progress
• NELI has a very high evidence rating - 5 out of 5 on the EEF padlock scale
• NELI’s positive effects can be seen long-term with improvements in language (and reading) being seen in children 2 years after the intervention
