Teachers in Their Power

Teachers in Their Power is a storytelling project focused on changing the narrative about the teaching profession. Through a combination of visual storytelling and in-depth interviews, Teachers in Their Power profiles the American teacher, quilting together perspectives from communities across the country. In a sea of systemic challenges, the project aims to bridge divides and focus on what can be done to help powerful teachers stay. By reading teachers’ stories and meeting them face-to-face, we come to better understand their humanity, their expertise, and their impact on student learning. Because teacher voice is essential to meaningful change, the project empowers educators to tell their own stories — whether as part of our photo interview series or by submitting a video on their own time.
