About SOLID
How will our large industries ever go green? How do these polluting businesses manage to use renewable energy to power their 24/7 operations? The answer is here: Iron-Based Hydrogen Storage. When iron-oxide is reacted with hydrogen, it is reduced into iron, which can be stored and transported more safe and compact then hydrogen in it's own form. If the iron is brought into contact with steam, it is oxidized back to iron-oxide, releasing hydrogen in the process. By using the cyclic storage of energy in iron, we make sure that hydrogen can reach it's full potential in the future energy balance. We are SOLID, a student team at Eindhoven University of Technology, working on the novel method of the cyclic storage of the energy of hydrogen in iron.
