About Transgender Education Advocates (TEA) of Utah

TEA of Utah is a statewide transgender (trans) advocacy organization. Trans-inclusion has always been a primary focus of TEA of Utah's work. From ensuring that gender identity is a core part of nondiscrimination and public accommodations ordinances and laws (in addition to sexual orientation) to training hospital staff, government agencies, non profit organizations and business organizations. TEA of Utah is dedicated to finding and creating opportunities to better the lives of transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary Utahns. From working to make it easier to change your name and gender marker, to ending trans exclusions in healthcare, to educating shelters and facilities on how to welcome and care for transgender individuals and families, TEA of Utah is committed. Our work at TEA of Utah is all through a lens of making LGBT lives better through education and changes in policies and law. Many of the opportunities we see in Utah are through administrative changes, through the Governor’s office, or individual agencies. This website is through that same lens, dedicated to helping transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary Utahns understand the law. This site includes game-changing policies and laws that have already been changed, as well as those we see as short-term opportunities for change, in order to make a significant positive difference in the daily lives of trans Utahns and their families.
