Tech Explorers is a 501(c)(3) charitable youth club providing enrichment, hands-on education to ALL youth in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math (STEAM). Why arts? We intend to reinvigorate America's prominence in creative design, ingenuity, exploration, and discovery. Science is the knowledge and tools; art and creativity provide the fantasy to question and go beyond where we are today into future solutions to the world's problems!
Our focus is on:
1) Inspiring youth to VALUE their FUTURE and to take responsibility for it NOW; and see their role in the planet and beyond; and
2) Teaching everything SCIENCE, which to us includes abundant workshops and training in creativity, arts, fantasy, space, the environment, math, engineering, computers, coding, pre-physics, and even film/post-production for the purposes of researching and cataloging scientific pursuits.
Schools - especially middle and high schools in low-income areas - are EAGER for us to partner with them, and demand is outpacing our ability to supply the programs. Currently, we have a sharp focus on female youth and traditionally under-represented ethnicities (in STEM education and careers). Our student members and participants are (as of late 2015):
+ 70% female
+ 98% minority (Latino, African-American, Pacific Islander, in that order)
+ Median age: 12
We would like to partner with schools, parents, STEAM-based companies and other nonprofits that share similar commitments to youth and the community.
