Techno Metal Post helical foundations, a type of helical pile or screw pile, are rotated into the ground with our specialized machines until a certain torque and depth are reached to meet the bearing load requirements of the supported structure. Techno Metal Post helical foundations are made from Hollow Structural Steel (HHS) that is compliant with ASTM A500 grade C. They are designed, tested, fabricated, and installed in compliance with Canadian, European, and United States building codes. Couplings connecting sections of shaft together are fully welded which provides maximum strength and rigidity and enhanced buckling resistance compared to similar products with only bolted couplings. Many shaft and helix sizes are available to fit the needs of a supported structure and to accommodate site specific soil conditions. Our engineering department can assist you in determining the appropriate sizes for the specific type of structure planned and soil conditions on your building site.
The insertion into the ground is carried out by our certified installers using our specialized hydraulic equipment which screws the pile until the proper soil layer is reached, which provides the bearing capacity required for your project. Bearing capacity is confirmed on site with the use of our installation equipment which measures the torque (twisting force) during pile installation. Thus, our certified installers know the exact load capacity for each pile after installation.
To protect the pile from ground movement, our exclusive green sleeve is placed over the pile during installation. During freeze/thaw cycles or in the presence of swelling clay, it is the sleeve that slides along the shaft of the pile following the possible movements of the ground. The Techno Metal Post will not move and thus ensures the stability of the structure.
