Tecné is an art + technology studio specialized in the use of light, based in London and Miami. As artists, their work focuses on exploring the transformation of physical places with the power of light, color, and sound to shape and modify our perception. From dynamic architectural lighting to screens, projections, and lasers, they have experience in light in all its forms. Tecné works in the space where digital and real-world meet. They torture technology to make it behave in artistic ways. They believe in the beauty of randomness and mathematics as the language of nature. Nature never repeats, but its predictable patterns have a level of entropy that inspires them. Biomimetics allows them to reproduce complex behaviors, based on the accumulation of controlled randomness and simple rules, and they use it to create non-repetitiveness in their installations. Tecné explores innovative ways to visualize data and create emotions with it. They like to explore data visualization techniques in s subtle way. When using abstract but recognizable patterns, the people in the space can learn how to read those patterns over time. Tecné’s art transmits information in ways that are different than just a screen.
