TEDxCatawba

TEDxCatawba is named after the Catawba River, which stretches over 220 miles through North and South Carolina and is a crucial natural resource. Originating in the Blue Ridge Mountains, it flows southeast to join the Wateree River. The river supports diverse ecosystems, providing habitat for numerous species of fish, birds, and other wildlife. It also plays a vital role in supplying water for municipalities, industries, and agriculture along its course. Additionally, the Catawba River is an essential source of hydroelectric power, featuring several dams and reservoirs that contribute to the region's energy needs. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations). Christine D.
