Teer Strategy

To make political science actionable for businesses and other organizations I (Joris Teer) founded Teer Strategy, an advisory firm for (geo-)political risk analysis and strategy development through scenario building. My goal: Making your organization future-proof in a rapidly changing geopolitical environment. I focus on the 21st century’s major agents of change: China (中国), the West (西方世界) and the Middle East (中东). 1. Curious what I can do to help your organization navigate change and formulate new strategies? I complement my knowledge of geopolitics by fostering a business rationale and expanding my quantitative skills. I spent the second half of 2019 solving business cases designed by Bain, McKinsey and BCG under the guidance of Bain and BCG consultants. Furthermore, I am trained in scenario planning. 2. Looking for a keynote speaker or discussion moderator for events on China’s growing role in Europe, its relationship with the United States or its policy objectives in the Middle East? I am an experienced public speaker: I appeared on BNR Nieuwsradio, addressed the Closing Ceremony of the Netherlands-Asia Honours Summer School 2019 and spoke at Are We Europe’s magazine launch event. In addition, I am the China-Middle East Analyst of the China Business Lunch collective, a group of prominent Dutch China experts. 3. Looking for written commentary and analysis of current affairs underpinned by strong historical knowledge? My publications appeared before in four Dutch national newspapers: de Volkskrant, Het Nederlands Dagblad, Het Financieele Dagblad (‘the Dutch Financial Times’) and De Groene Amsterdammer, and in these English-language publications: Clingendael Spectator, The London Globalist, Are We Europe and the Asian Journal of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies.
