TEMED designs and sells medical products for Cardiac Surgery, Paediatrics and Intensive Care environments around the world.
TEMED was founded in 2006 by Christopher Blacklock, to design and sell cardiac products. As well as designing products that TEMED sells, Christopher also designs products which appear in other companies’ portfolios. TEMED is passionate about designing products that are the best that they can be. If there is a more efficient way of doing something, then we will make it happen.
In 2010 the TEMED Gas Diffuser was introduced to the UK market. Today, this product is used in the majority of UK cardiac units, as well as units in various other European countries, Australia and also the majority of cardiac units in New Zealand. TEMED also has FDA approved products and has stage 1 ISO13485:2016 certification.
We intend to make our products accessible to all as we believe that every patient deserves the best care that is out there.
Another success story of a product designed by Christopher is the launch of the TEMED Mini Sucker, in 2012. This sucker is used in the majority of Paediatric Cardiac Units in the UK and has been described as
‘revolutionising our clinical practice’
at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. This is down to the simple fact that the sucker has the ability to draw fluid up leaving only 0.5mm left at the bottom of a cavity, rather than the 4mm they had left by other sump suckers. In pediatric surgery, this extra blood being returned to the patient is critical. TEMED also sells the adult sucker line which is used in cardiac units in the U.K and other European countries.
TEMED is also progressing in the non-cardiac surgery centers. A range of single patient use SpO2 sensors, ECG leads and NIBP cuffs have been introduced as part of TEMEDs quest to ‘Simply Reduce Infection’. Infection control is another area that we are passionate about, reinforcing that TEMED is built upon a genuine belief that every patient should only receive the best care. TEMED continues to diversify within the medical field.
