The Tempe Diablos Charities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been making a significant impact on the Tempe community since the late 1960s. Initially formed by a group of community leaders, business executives, and driven individuals, the Diablos came together with a shared vision to bring spring training baseball to the city as part of the burgeoning Cactus League. In 1971, the Diablos were instrumental in putting Tempe on the map as a sports destination, making the Fiesta Bowl the bowl game with the country’s best hospitality hosts for more than 40 years. The Diablos evolved their mission to focus on youth and education, launching the Diablos Scholarship Program in 1977 and expanding their initiatives to include teacher recognition, tutoring, community outreach, and head start educational programs.
For more than 50 years, members of the Tempe Diablos have donated their time, resources, talents, and money to provide scholarships, grants, and more to Tempe youth, education, and charitable programs. Since their inception in 1968, they have awarded approximately $20 million to local non-profits while providing leadership that creates worthwhile opportunities for the children of Tempe. Today, with over 150 members and an annual scholarship commitment to fund $254,000, the Diablos continue to honor their legacy of empowering youth and fostering educational excellence, making a lasting impact on the Tempe community.
