The Earth Rights Research & Action (TERRA) Program at New York University (NYU) School of Law is a global collaborative hub for research, advocacy, and strategic legal action on ecological emergencies. TERRA NYU Law is highly interdisciplinary and experimental, pursuing bold and novel actions with a range of collaborators across geographies and disciplines—from biological and climate sciences to human rights law and international governance to Indigenous and multispecies justice advocacy and beyond. In doing so, we aim to realize human and more-than-human justice and rights within the limited timeframe left to avoid extreme scenarios of ecological deterioration.
TERRA NYU Law currently hosts three lines of work: (1) the Climate Law Accelerator (CLX); (2) the Right to a Healthy Environment (R2HE) Toolkit; and (3) the More-Than-Human Life (MOTH) Project. For more information on each line of work, please read below.

The MOTH Project is a legal and interdisciplinary initiative that integrates concern for human rights and welfare into a larger concern for the rights and well-being of the more-than-human world and the web of life that sustains us all.
