Textbook Dibs

Founded in 2019 by a small team of undergraduate students from UCLA and sponsored by the Startup UCLA Summer Accelerator, Textbook Dibs offers students the most convenient way to resell their old or used textbooks! Through our automated buyback return process, students are able to drop off their textbooks at our kiosk (with plans to pilot more kiosks throughout campus) and get paid on the spot, via a mobile payment service. Our mission is to become the fastest and easiest alternative to reselling textbooks for busy college students. Instead of going through the hassle of finding people to sell books to on complicated online platforms or posting up flyers, choose Textbook Dibs! Sponsored by Startup UCLA, partnered with buyers from Amazon and Nebraska Book Company, and in partnerships with two other UCLA startups: BoxCamp and Gradstreet. Advised by Walter Paulsen, Co-Founder of Coinstar Giftcard Exchange (Outerwall), who is also leading Textbook Dibs' seed funding round. Currently negotiating a full pilot to launch multiple kiosk machines located around UCLA residential halls.
