About The Foundation for Black Heritage and Culture

The Foundation for the Black Heritage & Culture (“FBHC”) is a community supported 501(C)3 Non-Profit organization based in Houston, Texas with the mission to share, preserve and advance the vibrant legacy of African American culture through the foundation’s three pillars (Education, Health Equity & Cultural Arts), and to establish community-focused initiatives benefiting underserved inner-city youth populations and economically disadvantage families. Founded in 2012 by Mr. Richard Andrews, the foundation continues to meet the needs of the community year-round through our various project initiatives, including our weekly “We Are One” Weekly Food Distribution in 3rd Ward at the Shrine of the Black Madonna (in partnership with the Houston Food Bank – servicing over 300+ families per week), Project “No 1st Generation College Student Left Behind”, the BHF Annual Student Art Competition (in partnership with Houston Independent School District), and many more. FBHC is the official presenter of the annual Houston Black Heritage Fest, a multi-day festival promoting African American culture through live musical and dance performances, visual arts, fashion showcase, on-site health and wellness promotions, and a variety of delicious cuisines, beverages, and treats! With an annual attendance average of over 5,000+ patrons, Black Heritage Fest attracts a diversified audience from all around who enjoy our celebrity headline performances, prize giveaways, the festival marketplace featuring 55+ exhibitors from across the U.S., college scholarship giveaways, and the spirit of community that makes this festival so special. FBHC is operated and supported through our incredible network of community volunteers, board members, community partners, corporate contributions, and private donors. We invite you to help us continue making a difference in the community by DONATING to our organization today or becoming a VOLUNTEER to support our important work.
