Taiwan Gender Equity Education Association (TGEEA), founded in 2002 by a group of school teachers and social activists, aspires to achieve gender justice and diversity in Taiwan through education. We aim to support teachers and educational institutions through policy advocacy, as well as the development and dissemination of localized, culturally-relevant and inclusive gender equity education materials.
TGEEA is dedicated to the following endeavors:
(1) Gender justice outreach programs for teachers, students and parents at various levels of education, (2) Research and development of instructional materials and effective strategies for gender equity education, and (3) Coordination with schools, local governments, and the Ministry of Education to ensure the official implementation of the Gender Equity Education Act (2004).
In addition, TGEEA has worked to establish and grow an international network of educators and activists, through which we promote professional development opportunities, as well as the sharing of resources and information between schoolteachers, social activists, and other nonprofits - both in Taiwan and abroad - that share our mission.
