Founders Beverly Kim and Johnny Clark are the wife-and-husband team behind two of Chicago’s most acclaimed restaurants. As chefs/owners of Parachute and Wherewithall, Kim and Clark have garnered near-universal praise from the national press and the dining public. Their approach to Korean-American at Parachute and the free-wheeling borderless cuisine of Wherewithall have won the couple — among other accolades — a Michelin star, a James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: Great Lakes, and a spot on Bon Appetit’s national “Best New Restaurants” list. Kim is a Chicago-area native, the daughter of Korean immigrants, and was the recipient of the 2016 Jean Banchet Award for Rising Chef of the Year. Clark was born in Cincinnati, trained in some of New York City’s most acclaimed fine dining restaurants, and spent four months in South Korea apprenticing at Sandang, a revered temple of Korean gastronomy outside Seoul. The couple lives with their three sons in Chicago. Sarah Stegner, owner of Prairie Grass cafe and a founding member of Green City Market, is a founding member of The Abundance Setting.
