Athena is an app designed to empower women to feel safe on the streets.
While most apps are reactive, Athena is proactive about your safety.
Unlike other apps for women's safety, Athena includes a map UI to track and report crime, street lighting, police presence, and sexual assault/harassment. This map will help the user to plan the safest and quickest route to their destination.
With a protective, automated phone line that will record their audio and location, users are aided with a simulated conversation and an automatic transfer or alert to 911 or an emergency contact when a customizable safeword is spoken.
Additionally, users are able to pair calls with another user for safety and comfort while traveling. At any time, users may add their own reports of unsafe areas or incidents, which, in combination with other real-time and historical data, is displayed according to its location, time and date, and other details.
