The Biryani Centre

Our happy place Cooking and food has been my happy place since I can remember. It’s where I’m most content, feeding people. I’m originally from East London and there we were surrounded by friends and family; we always had people popping in and out and we were constantly hosting. Having a laugh, enjoying the best part of our day together, making memories. We moved to SW London in September 2020 for schooling. We didn’t know anyone in the area and, coupled with lockdown restrictions, I had no opportunity to cook for anyone. To entertain myself, I posted on Facebook asking if anyone was interested in home-cooked biryani. That first week I got orders for 10 biryanis, which quickly escalated to 40. We listened to what our guests wanted and it grew from there. Cooking is my happy place because I can get fully immersed in the task without having to think about anything else. In East London I never wanted to sell my food because I was worried I would lose the enjoyment of it. I needn’t have worried! Our guests get happiness delivered via our dinners, which makes me immensely happy. My husband Thiru is a professionally trained chef (in continental food) so his technical expertise has helped to elevate our food to the next level. At the best restaurants (I don’t mean the fanciest), the people who feed you, that’s their favourite thing to do in life, and you can feel it.
