About The Board of EHS Auditor Certifications
BEAC is an independent, nonprofit corporation established in 1997 to issue professional certifications relating to environmental, health, and safety auditing and other scientific fields. BEAC was originally created as a joint venture between The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA) and the Auditing Roundtable, Inc.(Roundtable). BEAC confers the Certified Professional EHS Auditor (CPEA) designation in four specialty areas: Environmental Compliance, Health & Safety Compliance, Management System, and Responsible Care. Applicants are required to meet a variety of qualification criteria, and pass a six-hour closed book examination. The CPEA designation is accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards. BEAC has just introduced in 2012 the Certified Process Safety Auditor (CPSA) designation; applicants must meet rigorous experience and qualification criteria.
