About The BRAIN Foundation
BRAIN Foundation’s mission is to support translational research leading to development of FDA-approved treatments and an improved standard of care for co-morbidities in individuals with autism spectrum disorder. We do this by: • Funding the most promising translational research • Providing an open space for multi-disciplinary science symposia and working groups, tools for easier collaboration and access to resources to fund the whitespace in autism research. • Clinical initiatives focusing on translating research to evidence-based treatments for the core disabilities of autism and co-morbid medical conditions. FUNDING Our approach to funding medical research is informed by the voices of individuals at every level of the autism spectrum, their families, clinicians and a Board of Scientific Advisors from leading medical research institutions. All applications are reviewed by a peer consultant group representing a broad range of research disciplines. We welcome introductions and ideas research@brainfoundation.org SYMPOSIA AND WORKING GROUPS Synchrony, BRAIN Foundation’s annual event, is the first and only international symposium on translational research in autism, that brings together academia, biotech, pharmaceutical companies and venture partners from around the world. Topics covered: • Biotech startups and pharmaceutical companies: Novel ASD therapeutics • Understanding ASD through animal models, tissue cultures and organoids • Treatments in the FDA pipeline undergoing clinical trials Round table working groups & discussions CLINICAL INITIATIVES Our clinical initiatives focus on translating research to evidence-based treatments for the core disabilities of autism and co-morbid medical conditions, to help establish a more robust standard of care ASD across the board: • Improved guidelines for ongoing routine care • Proactive monitoring for common medical co-morbidities in ASD • Expanded medical diagnostics • Intensive, outcome-driven care for acute conditions.
